Advantages Of Invisalign

Due to the popularity of Invisalign aligners, you may be planning to use them to straighten your teeth. Still, you may be unaware of their many advantages. Here are a few of them.

An Orthodontic Treatment with Clear Aligners Is Quick

When compared to other orthodontic options such as traditional braces, plastic aligners straighten the teeth quickly. Metal braces may require several years to properly align the teeth, but the Invisalign trays often complete the repositioning of the teeth in fewer than 12 months.

Traditional braces may need a longer period to correct a dental misalignment because of the friction that is created by the components of the appliance. The metal brackets are connected to the archwire of the braces by elastic bands. As the bands rub against the metal, friction is produced. This friction works against the aligning forces of the archwire to prolong the treatment.

Clear aligners fit over the teeth and do not require elastic ligatures. As a result, the aligning force of the trays is unencumbered during the treatment. You just have to be sure to avoid leaving the trays out the mouth for more than a couple of hours daily.

During your treatment with Invisalign, multiple sets of aligning trays are used. The patient wears each set for several weeks and then replaces it with the next set in the series. The final set completes the treatment. However, a retainer may be required to prevent the teeth from shifting back into their former position.

Clear Aligners Are Almost Invisible in the Mouth

The aligners are constructed from transparent plastic, so the teeth are clearly visible when the appliance is in place. Also, the trays are produced in a dental laboratory from a mold of the patient's mouth. Thus, they fit precisely over the teeth. Consequently, your smile looks natural and appliance-free as the aligners are worn.

Clear Aligners Still Allow You To Easily Clean Your Teeth

Many orthodontic appliances are not removable, so you are required to navigate around the hardware to clean your teeth. Even though a dentist may recommend specialized tools to help clean bracket-covered teeth, using the items may still be time-consuming and cumbersome.

Clear aligners are removable, so the trays can be taken out of the mouth before you brush or floss. The trays can also be removed to make eating easier.

About Me

Tooth Pain and Gum Inflammation: Get Answers Here

About seven months ago, my gums began to bleed whenever I brushed my teeth. At first, I didn't think much about the blood, as it was only a small amount at the time. But as time passed, my gums began to bleed a lot, even when I didn't brush my teeth. I also experienced a weird taste in my mouth that made my breath smell foul. My sister suggested that I make an appointment with a dentist. She recognized the signs of gum disease and knew that if I didn't seek treatment now, the disease would only get worse. I took my sister's advice and visited a local dentist. The dentist diagnosed me with advanced gum disease and began treatment immediately. If you notice strange things happening in your mouth, don't ignore them. My blog can help you learn more about your oral health and how to protect it. Thanks.
